The food was excellant. The staff, waiters, bartenders, and valet parking attendents, were very friendly, helpful, and professional. Sean at the front desk was very helpful with our boarding passes on the computer. We visited San Diego on several occasions and by far the Westgate is our favorite. We will certainly be back and stay at the Westgate. We plan to suggest this beautiful hotel to others as well. Thank you so much for your hospitality.
I think it would be very helpful to have some type of elegant (since you are such an elegant and beautiful hotel) hanger to put on your outside door handle to let the cleaning crew know you are out and that your room is available for cleaning. I loved the fact that the cleaing crew give you your privacy and do not harrass you to clean the room at a particular time.
We enjoyed the Old World charm and the history of the Hotel. Access to shopping. Restaurants in the Gas Lamp District. Friendliness of the staff. Your 7-7-7 Happy Hour.
My only suggestion would be to have Staff people give short tours of the Lobby... explain the history, famous guests, history of the Grand Piano, the artwork, chandeliers, etc.
All the stafff were pleasant and helpful.
Our room was nice, but the location of the hotel was very noisy. Our room over looked the trolley car stop and we could hear it every tim it stopped to drop off and pick up passengers. We could hear all noises, from people talking, to sirens, to garbage trucks etc. All noises were applified between the buildings that surround the hotel. The staff were all nice and helpful and our room service meals were good. However, we will probably not stay there again. Also there was construction going on around the area and many homeless/vagrant type folks all over the Gaslamp area. The area seemed dirty and a bit desserted. We did enjoy our visit to USS Midway and Seaport Village.
hotel is beautiful. and location was excellent. (trolley station literally around the corner..)
Room had complimentary bottled water in fridge but one of bottles was half drank.. just a small oversight by cleaning staff probably.. Rest of room and hotel was very very clean.
I loved every thing about this hotel. The service was amazing and the location as well. I would go back to the same hotel whenever I am in san.
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful! Not to mention the hotel is right in the heart of down town to experience everything around! Very walkable distance!! Fantastic!
I thought with the deal could of provided some complimentary breakfast!
Did not honor the rate you advertised..Charged $30 per night more.
Very friendly and helpful sevice
Very thin walls, papper thin walls, housekeeping staff very noisy.
Great location close to Gaslamp area. Beautiful hotel. Great service.
The hotel bar was small and had little atmosphere.
Nice room. Friendly staff.
Noise from protest outside.
Very high quality hotel, unlike many other motel-type establishments further north in ca. Great value for money, therefore. Location could not be more convenient. Highly recommend.
Parking at $30+ a night a rip-off but the boys friendly enough to tell where to park for less. Kudos to them for that.
The Westgate was a beautiful upscale hotel. We really enjoyed the location as we could walk to shopping, resturants, the Midway and to the Gaslamp area very easily. The parking fee was high on top of the room rate and the tub was slow to drain otherwise....great hotel. We will stay again!
Parking fee was high on top of the room rate. The tub was very slow to drain.
I really liked the personal attention that each employee gave
The only bad thing is that the mattresses were extremely uncomfortable. It's a shame because of the luxurious ambiance that surrounds the entire facility but I do have to be honest!
The hotel is overpriced. Even when we paid $370/night, they charged us an extra $5 for a toothbrush! A luxury four-star hotel shouldn't charge such a silly amount for a toothbrush. I have stayed in countless four and five stars hotel and they never charged for toothbrushes or razors.
